Anti-Aging with Ayurveda

Forever young! The dream of eternal youth is probably as old as humanity itself. Closely linked to this dream is the desire for health, beauty, and youthful agility. Our wishes are further reinforced by the constant media barrage. A specific ideal of beauty is set as the standard. And this does not show an older person. At least not in the western world.
In Ayurveda, aging is seen and embraced as a natural process. Unlike the western perception, it is simply part of our life, and as such, it is nurtured with Ayurveda. Anti-aging with Ayurveda is therefore not a stance against aging itself, but shows a way to combat unnatural premature aging. Ayurveda premature aging can be counteracted. Thus, anti-aging with Ayurveda is a mindful process that serves as a guide to a healthier life and a healthier relationship with one's own age.
Anti-aging: What does aging mean?
A whole industry thrives on our desire to slow down the aging process. Many people try to stop or even reverse the aging process with injections or even surgery! It is precisely our western lifestyle that is responsible for the accelerated aging process. Above all, an unconscious, unhealthy diet not tailored to personal needs. Occupational to private stress that pulls us away from our center. Too little or too poor-quality sleep because we want to use the regeneration phase for our performance. And then, of course, the separation of body, mind, and soul. This goes so far that we live a life that neither unfolds our potential nor realizes our dreams.
Thus, we visibly age prematurely with too-early graying hair, dull, wrinkled skin, and health complaints that further drain our life energy. Such prospects are daunting. No wonder age is then seen as a curse. An Ayurvedic lifestyle gives you the knowledge and tools to age well, healthily, and above all, happily.
How does anti-aging work with Ayurveda?
Ayurveda does not grant you eternal youth. That is also not natural. According to the Hindu Trinity, we are born with the creator god Brahma, exist with the sustaining energy of Vishnu, and perish with Shiva. Not THAT you age, but HOW you age, is crucial. But how does this aging process occur?
As is typical in Ayurveda, our life phases are also determined by doshas. As a child, we need more Kapha because we are growing. Our youth is then determined by Pitta. It gives us fire and energy for our performance ability. And the older we get, the more Vata becomes noticeable.
Vata stands for dryness, cold, restlessness, and irregularity. These properties are fine if they are balanced with the other doshas. But if you have too much Vata, these properties are also enhanced. Consequence: Natural signs of aging appear much earlier and are intensified. With this knowledge and about your individual dosha constitution, you can especially contribute a lot with your dietto bring this process back into natural balance. But there are many more ways to make your anti-aging with Ayurveda even more effective.
Panchakarma, the queen of Ayurvedic treatments, for your detox
We typically do not grow up with Ayurvedic knowledge in the West. Instead, we come into contact with it over the course of our lives because we want to change our diet or when faced with intolerances. Through an unconscious diet, toxins and harmful substances settle in our bodies. In Ayurveda, this is referred to as Ama, which could block the natural flow of our organs.
To regularly and effectively eliminate Ama from our bodies, Panchakarma therapyis suitable. Thereby, you will be effectively and efficiently freed from toxins with various Ayurvedic treatments. Professional guidance is important so that you can detox according to your constitution. The intensive, cleansing effect of Panchakarma is also a good learning path: Firstly, you learn about your personal dosha constitution. Secondly, you learn which foods to consume and which ones to avoid.
There are varying intensities and durations of Panchakarma therapies. However, it is good to do at least one every two years. Preferably far from your usual surroundings so you can focus entirely on yourself.
For all those who currently don't have time for a stay, discover the benefits of Panchakarma therapy comfortably at home. The actress and TV doctor Andrea Kathrin Loewig, in collaboration with our European Ayurveda® experts Elisabeth Mauracher and Gaurav Sharma, has developed a completely individual Panchakarma therapy for your own four walls. In her book: “Ayurveda: The 7-Day Panchakarma Therapy for Home” she provides valuable tips on detoxing, offers a wealth of background knowledge, and brings delicious recipes for a healthy kitchen.

Rasayana therapy – for your regeneration
In Ayurveda, Rasayanas are understood as "rejuvenating" agents. More precisely, they are various very high-quality herbal or mineral substance mixtures that have a regenerating effect. In European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof, we therefore specifically offer a Rasayana therapy. This is specifically designed to bring unbalanced doshas back into equilibrium. Rasayanas are also used to support the regeneration of the body and organs. The therapy is particularly suitable if you are powerless and have a weakened immune system.
Anti-aging with regularity
Vata has the characteristic of irregularity. Therefore, you can skillfully counteract it with regularity. This might sound boring. But regularities are also rituals. And these are sensual and beautiful. If you see regularities as such rituals, they are like valuable little gifts to yourself. And these can include:
Consume your meals warm, freshly cooked, and regularly.
Go to bed at the same time every day, ensure good, restful, and sufficient sleep.
Rise at the same time every day, preferably not too late.
Drink hot water every day. Simply boil the water for 20 minutes and take it in sips throughout the day.
Regularly oil your body, let the massage oil take effect and then shower, ideally using a high-quality sesame oil.
Massage your scalp to activate blood circulation.
The dietary supplement Chyavanprash, the Amla fruit pulp, has a balancing effect on all three doshas. Take one to two teaspoons pure daily.
Anti-aging for mind and soul
After an Ayurvedic treatment, you will take away a lot of knowledge, insight, and inspiration to automatically advance your personal anti-aging. Inner satisfaction also plays a big part in this. We can't say it often enough: Body, mind, and soul belong together. If one element is out of balance, everything is out of balance. For this reason, caring for your mind and soul is also an anti-aging topic. The happier you are, the more radiant and vital you will be:
Meditate regularly to calm your mind and enhance your brain activity.
Practice yoga regularly, to exercise on one hand and to massage your organs from the inside as well.
Pay attention to what you say and what you think: words are powerful. With them you can harm others, but also yourself. So be good to yourself in your formulations and in your statements about yourself.
