Sweet summer greeting: Sunny compote recipe
Summer is a powerful season. We are full of energy and drive, and the Pitta Dosha unfolds completely. The long summer days give us strength. However, what somewhat limits the flow of energy is the heat. With enough breaks and proper nutrition, we can harness the full power of summer.
Ayurvedic Holiday Menu: Treat Yourself and Your Loved Ones
As November comes to an end, Christmas holidays are also approaching quickly. A time when the family comes together again, and often large menus are conjured up. Many people start fasting in the weeks before or begin the new year with a detox cure. During this time, we should be mindful of ourselves, especially during the holidays, and use the free days to replenish our energy. Therefore, nutrition is essential during this period.
Our European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof is located—in our opinion—in one of the most beautiful regions in Europe. The Tyrolean mountain world amazes even long-time residents time and time again. Numerous places of power are found on the peaks and in the valleys and have a very special vibration that helps us bring our bioenergies into harmony.
Ayurveda originates from India and translates to "The Knowledge" (veda) "of Long Life" (ayur). It is the oldest holistic healing art of humanity and not only massages, special detoxification treatments, and yoga belong to the Ayurvedic lifestyle, but also nutrition. All elements together are intended to keep various body functions, such as metabolism, digestion, and tissues in balance, so that illnesses cannot arise. Eating habits can be adapted depending on the type. Ayurveda differentiates between the three doshas: Kapha, Pitta, and Vata. Each person corresponds, depending on the manifestation of various characteristics, to one of these three doshas.

What you consume is an essential component for your health and well-being. Often, factors like lack of time and stress become barriers on our path to a balanced diet or detoxification. Especially work is often used as an excuse to postpone the detox program to the weekend or vacation. In reality, it's just a lack of ideas or convenience that lead us to grab fast food during lunch breaks, so we at least consume something. After all, we need energy to be able to master our working day.
Slowly we leave the summer behind. The previously dominant Pitta is gradually losing strength, and Vata, the dosha of movement and change, is gaining more influence in the environment and nature. Autumn is the season where everything prepares for the coming winter. The bioenergies slow down and gather their strength for regeneration during the cold months. To get through the winter well, it's advisable to start a detox regimen to rid the body of unnecessary toxins. Additionally, you need to keep your immune system fit. Because the strong temperature fluctuations, the cold and damp weather, and the shortening days thoroughly challenge the body's defense system.
In autumn, nature undergoes a transformation that is at least as intense as in spring. The Vata-Dosha is at work again, preparing the environment for the coming winter months. Everything retreats into stillness and regeneration, so that Kapha can prepare the life forces for the coming year. In these times of change, a detox cure is accordingly a recommended measure. The body is freed from old waste, the immune system is strengthened, and body, mind, and soul can gather new energies once again. In particular, nutrition plays an important role during this time. With the right recipes, the digestive fire Agni is strengthened. Our bioenergies can be brought back into balance and Ama can be transported away.
