Ayurveda-Getränke können fit und gesund halten.

A diet that is good for the body naturally includes drinking enough and, above all, the right things. We have gathered the best Ayurveda drinks that can keep you fit and healthy. From the power mix for hot summer days to the golden milk that provides cozy warmth in the cold season, there is something for every dosha and every taste!

How to drink healthily?

Without drinking, nothing works, as Ayurveda teaching also knows. However, not all drinks are the same: If you want to drink according to Ayurvedic principles, you should, for example, as much as possible consume warm drinks - in every season.

Ayurveda also follows the principle that 30 minutes before and after eating, nothing should be drunk. This ensures that your digestive fire (Agni) is optimally ignited or remains so. If you eat something very solid and dry, you can drink something in between, but preferably in moderation.

Then there is the question of all questions: What amount of fluid is actually healthy? There is no general answer to that, because basically, your bodytells you what is good for it and what is not.

As a guideline, however, you can follow a simple calculation: Your body weight in kilograms multiplied by 0,03 - and you have the daily recommended water amount in liters. However, even here, " Practice makes perfect! " And here they come, the Ayurvedic drinks that are among our absolute favorites!

For the entire year: the classics among Ayurveda drinks

A list of Ayurveda drinks would not be complete without the evergreens: Ayurvedic spiced milk, rice, and ginger water are always in season and can be prepared in no time.

The strongly spiced milk beverage is not only detoxifyingbut also wonderfully soothing. And if you have a little hunger before going to bed but don't want to eat anything, the spiced milk wonderfully fills the stomach, so you can fall asleep relaxed.

You need the following ingredients for the preparation of 4 servings:

  • 800 ml fresh whole milk

  • 2 pinches of saffron powder

  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg, alternatively 7 cardamom pods

  • 2-4 tablespoons whole cane sugar

Rice Water

If you eat according to Ayurveda, you maintain breaks of 5-7 hours between meals. This might seem like a long time when you are just beginning in the world of Ayurveda.

In such situations, rice water helps,as it is filling and nourishing and easily carries you to the next meal.

  • 2-3 liters of water

  • Optionally a bit of Himalayan salt, ginger, and black pepper

Cook the rice in the water until it starts to dissolve. Now you just need to pour the mixture through a sieve and collect the rice water in a thermos flask.

Ginger Water

The ginger root is indispensable in an Ayurvedic diet. Even in the form of a drink, you can incorporate it into your day at any time and thus strengthen your Agni. Both Vata as well as Pitta and Kapha are well advised with it.

You only need for the ginger water:

  • 1 liter of water

  • 30-50 g fresh ginger

Chop the ginger and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes in the water. The water should ideally reduce to a third of its original volume. The more water evaporates, the more intense and effective the drink becomes.

Even without adding ginger, hot water is an Ayurveda classicthat is (almost) always and for every type suitable. It is recommended to drink half a cup of it at once, in 2-3 sips every half hour.
