The Ayurveda snack for the mountain hike

Our European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof is located—in our opinion—in one of the most beautiful regions in Europe. The Tyrolean mountain world amazes even long-time residents time and time again. Numerous places of power are found on the peaks and in the valleys and have a very special vibration that helps us bring our bioenergies into harmony.
A mountain hike to the surrounding peaks is therefore almost a must-do in the summer. The untouched natural landscapes, the panoramic views, and also the occasional encounter on the mountain create memories that last. Of course, an ideal hike also requires provisions. Our Ayurveda snacks are excellent for this.
Hiking with European Ayurveda®
"The mountain calls" and many happily answer. But rushing blindly into the adventure is not only disadvantageous, it can even be dangerous. Proper footwear, suitable equipment, as well as food and drink for the road, are important. Here are our tips to make your peak tour a fulfilling excursion.
Take your time: Do not overexert your body. Manage your energy reserves well. Hiking should be fun and gladden your heart. Go at your own pace that suits you and take your time. Start a little earlier and enjoy the breathtaking views rather than rushing uphill. The hike should be time for you to use to find peace. This has an especially positive effect on Vata.
Take breaks: Don't just walk the trail, but experience it with all your senses. The best way to do this is to take a break every now and then and let the nature around you work its magic. Sit in the shade of a tree or lie on the grass. Do you smell the fragrance of flowers? Maybe the scent of freshly mown hay reaches your nose. Do you hear the wind rustling in the leaves? Is a stream babbling cheerfully somewhere toward the valley? Do you feel the sun on your face? Close your eyes for a moment and let all these impressions work on you.
Engaging consciously with your surroundings has a regenerative and relaxing effect on the body, mind, and soul. If your hiking route leads through forests, let the special powers of the trees and shrubs work on you. The forest is a place of power that helps you recharge your batteries.

Being in nature
Drink plenty and take provisions. A hike is a physical exertion where you can easily break into a sweat. Therefore, you must take in enough liquid. Avoid sugary juices or soft drinks. They usually make you even thirstier. Fresh water is best, and it should not be ice-cold but lukewarm because it is comforting for the body. You can add lemon slices. That supports the metabolism and keeps Pitta in balance. Our European Ayurveda® water bottle is ideal for this.
When you're on the go, you should also eat something in between to replenish your energy reserves. Fresh fruit like apples or pears is an optimal snack in the summer. Nuts provide a lot of energy.
The Ayurveda snack for the summit snack
Once you've conquered the mountain, it's time to enjoy the view and be proud of yourself. What better way to celebrate this success than with a little snack? Here we have a simple but very tasty recipe for an Ayurveda snack that you can easily carry in your backpack:
Power Balls for the mountain
You need:
100 g oats
50 g dried cranberries
4 tablespoons peanut butter or ghee
2 tablespoons coconut flakes
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons water
Here's how it's done:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix everything together. Knead the mixture well so everything mixes. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
Then form small balls from the dough. It should be enough for about 12 portions. Place the shaped balls on the baking sheet and refrigerate them again for 30 minutes later. Then you can store them in an airtight container.
Have fun on your next mountain hike with this delicious Ayurveda snack.
