Kneippen kann zu einem starken und aktiven Immunsystem beitragen.

Are you familiar with Kneipping? Especially in spa towns, but also in nature, you often see people wading through cool water like storks - for the sake of health. Kneipping or a Kneipp cure can contribute to a strong and active immune system. Learn more about the fruitful interaction between European Ayurveda® and Kneipp therapy.

A Kneipp cure involves slowly wading through water of different temperatures, either warm or cold. Kneipping is said to have a positive effect on circulation. It alleviates complaints of varicose veins, helps with respiratory diseases, and supports detoxification. Thus, this process is particularly well combinable with a detox cure.

However, water therapy is only one of the various applications. Kneipp medicine traces back to the German Catholic priest Sebastian Anton Kneipp (1821-1897). The scholar suffered long from respiratory diseases. Through hydrotherapy – that is, treatments with cold water baths – his health improved. Thus, the priest developed a series of therapy and nutrition tips to strengthen the immune system.

The Basic Pillars of Kneipp Therapy

  • Water Therapy: This includes cool water pours, as well as water wraps around the calves.

  • Nutrition: A balanced whole-food diet is emphasized. Little meat, a lot of vegetables, and whole grain products are the main components.

  • Free Movement: Kneipp considered it important that people move as freely as possible. Therefore, Kneipp medicine recommends light, airy clothing during exercise sessions and running barefoot whenever possible. This strengthens the immune system and supports balance.

  • Phytotherapy: This refers to the use of medicinal herbs. In Kneipp medicine, great value is placed on the power and energy of nature.

  • Order Therapy: A clear mind, a routine life order, and a health-conscious attitude are the basis for Kneipp's order therapy.

What Kneipp Therapy Has to Do with European Ayurveda®

If you've been involved with European Ayurveda® for a while, you'll notice that Kneipp medicine and our philosophy have some parallels. In European Ayurveda®, the focus is also on the health of people through the use of natural remedies. We rely on Indian healing teachings but also incorporate the knowledge of Western conventional medicine and complementary medicine. This is, for example, a fixed part of our Ayurveda Plus Intensive Program.

Sufficient movement, walking barefoot, and the application of hot and cold water are things that also belong to the philosophy of European Ayurveda®. In our philosophy, the balance of body, mind, and soul is important - similar to Sebastian Kneipp's beliefs. We incorporate not only European thought but also the millennia-old knowledge of Ayurveda and Far Eastern medicine along the way to remain strong, healthy, and full of energy.

Even in nutrition, there are partially similar aspects in Kneipp's cure and the philosophy of European Ayurveda®. In addition to medicinal herbs and their effects, we try to balance bioenergies with various herbs, spices, and vegetarian dishes. You will find excellent recipes in our book: The 7-Day Panchakarma Program at Home.

Mental Detox: Start the New Year with Freedom

We already look back at the first days of the new year and once again realize: Despite numerous good resolutions, hardly anything has changed. The motivation to exercise more is already fading away. The paperwork from last year is still not done, and in the evening, you sit in front of the TV with pizza instead of salad. Why is that?
