Gerade in stressigen Situationen ist es wichtig, sich regelmäßig zu erden und im Hier und Jetzt zu verankern.

The holiday season is slowly coming to an end. Family and work life are gradually reclaiming you. New projects, new tasks, and new challenges await you! You might also have a lot of ideas and wishes that you want to implement, but somehow cannot find the time to do so. Does this sound familiar? Our life is sometimes so fast-paced and hectic that we quickly lose our balance. Especially in stressful situations, it's important to regularly ground yourself and anchor in the here and now.

The Meaning of Grounding

You might recall the concept of grounding from physics class: Electricity seeks the shortest path to the ground. To prevent a short circuit, electrical devices often have a grounding wire that connects the electricity to the earth. The same is true for grounding yourself.

In European Ayurveda®, we believe that everything is interconnected. You, your doshas, and the energies of your environment are in regular exchange with each other. When your bioenergies are, for instance, unbalanced, this connection can be interrupted. Especially too much excess Vata can contribute to having your head in the clouds and losing your inner stability. This manifests as inner restlessness, stress, a constantly spinning carousel of thoughts, and distractibility in daily life. You're not fully present within yourself.

Grounding means, as the name implies, maintaining the connection to your earthly surroundings and drawing new energy for your activities from it.

How to Reconnect with Yourself and Your Environment

We all have chaotic days at times. That's perfectly okay. However, if you feel like you've lost your grounding, try to come back to yourself. In European Ayurveda®, unity with the environment, body, mind, and soul is important. Only in this balance can you become a better version of yourself.

Take a walk to clear your head. Leave your smartphone at home and focus entirely on yourself. You can practice walking meditation which helps you ground yourself and bring body, mind, and soul back into harmony with the environment.

Bring routine into your daily life. When your day follows a certain pattern, it helps your mind to better sort and manage tasks. Even a morning routine is good to reduce stress and consequently lower Vata within you.

Affirmations for Your Grounding

Try to reinforce your goals and grounding through affirmations. Positively reinforcing sentences help your subconscious to transform positively. Affirmations can be phrases like:

  • The here and now belong to me.

  • I feel the connection to myself and my environment.

  • The present is a gift.

  • My mind is calm and my thoughts are clear.

  • I achieve my goals step by step.

  • My environment feels me, and I feel its energies.

An Ayurveda retreat is always a good opportunity to restore your inner balance. During a Panchakarma retreat at European Ayurveda Sonnhof, we focus entirely on your needs. This not only helps you reestablish connection with your inner self, but also maintain it in the long term. We take extra time for you and work with you to find a way to create a new and better life filled with fulfillment, steadiness, and peace.

You will notice that once you feel grounded again, many things will become easier for you.
