Sun meditation and the journey to the light

Die Sonnenmeditation führt Dich zum eigenen Licht.

The sun is the central force for all life-giving on our planet. Its light has strong healing power and supports the light body process when we approach it with mindful awareness.

The light of the setting sun also has a clarifying and purifying effect on our chakra system, just like that of the rising sun. Whereas the evening sunlight corresponds with the root chakra, the sacral chakra, the solar plexus, and the heart chakra. In comparison, the morning light affects the heart chakra, throat chakra, brow chakra, and crown chakra. The heart chakra is stimulated by both the morning light and the evening light.

The more we give our attention and awareness to the sun, the more we also nurture our own solar consciousness, which usually initially rests in the unconscious. However, through regular sun rituals, we nourish and awaken consciousness – to live "awake" in the light. In this meditation you can use the sun and the light to expand your consciousness and become one with the light.

Preparation

You are welcome to sit outside for this meditation and watch a beautiful sunrise or sunset . However, any other time of the day is equally suitable for sun meditation. If the sun is not shining, you can also do the meditation in a closed room. To do this, with your eyes closed, visualize the mood of the sun with all its colors. Become aware of the qualities that awaken in you and that you associate with the sun or your inner image. Of course, the warmth and intensity of the sun depend on the seasons, but especially in the sun-poor winter months, this meditation gives us a lot of light and strength. Meditation instructions

Sit on a yoga cushion and make yourself comfortable. Keep your spine upright and straight, and you can form your hands into a mudra. For example, the Gyan Mudra, where we gently bring the thumb and index finger together. Now take a few deep breaths in and out.

Consciously absorb with each inhale and exhale

the prana (life energy) charged by the sunlight . You see internally, for example during a sunrise, how the radiance becomes stronger and stronger, and you feel the warmth of the sun's rays on your skin.

Now embark on your journey to the light. Whether it is to your sun image or to another light that shines beyond the sun. You set out on the path there and along the way you experience various things, feelings, thoughts, and perceptions. Simply perceive everything, look at it without judging, without evaluating, without wanting to change anything. Let the beautiful and the less beautiful simply be on your path, on the wayside. Let it be illuminated by the sunlight, perceive it, and continue towards this radiant light. Perceive everything with an open heart, with mindful awareness, that you encounter on your journey to the light.

And as you continue on this path to the light, seeing beautiful or less beautiful things on the left and right of the path that arise in the mind, the light comes closer, you come closer to the light. Focus your attention even more on the light. It is a radiant, supernatural light that magnetically draws you in. The closer you get, the more radiant it becomes, the bigger it becomes.

See what your light looks like, whether it radiates white or golden or maybe a little bluish. However it may shine: Look at your light. It becomes brighter, larger. Soon you see nothing else but only this light, which now fills everything. You come even closer. The whole space is bathed in this radiant light, and the radiance fills you completely. The light takes you in.

You continue. You enter into the light. The light takes you in, thoroughly penetrates you. You merge with the light. You are the light. You are the highest light and radiate in all directions. You are this brightness, this radiance. You merge with it, and there is nothing else. Also feel the joy, this great opening, the letting go, the dissolution of the relative in this absolute, pure light.

Stay in this state for a while and feel it for yourself. When you are ready to detach from the meditation, then take 3 more deep breaths in and out. With the last exhalation, slowly open your eyes and return to the here and now.

Recommendation

You are welcome to chant a mantra at the end. We recommend the following sun mantra: Om hrim sum suryaya namaha
