Ayurveda hilft Dir dabei, sich im Frühling wieder frei und gelöst zu fühlen.

Spring is a time of cleansing and renewal. Many still feel tired and sluggish after the cold winter and cannot properly enjoy the strengthening rays of the sun. Here we show you some valuable Ayurveda tips for spring, with which you can banish spring fatigue and draw fresh strength again.

European Ayurveda® Spring Cure: Detox is the order of the day

Where does this typical spring fatigue actually come from? From an Ayurvedic perspective, the Kapha dosha accumulates in the body during winter. Additionally a particularly large amount of metabolic waste, known as Ama, accumulates in spring.

This then creates the classic symptoms that many feel in spring, such as lethargy, increased need for sleep, little appetite, and susceptibility to colds.

To draw new energy and vitality, the accumulated Kapha must be pacified. Because this way you free yourself from Ama and leave behind the fatigue and heaviness.

The best way to do this is with a holistic Ayurvedic spring cure. This means that in addition to diet, exercise, meditation, and stimulating Ayurvedic practices are part of it. Now we show you what that looks like!

Ayurvedic cleansing methods for spring

It is best to start every day with an Ayurvedic morning routine. To do this, drink a glass of warm water first thing in the morning after getting up. Depending on taste, you can also spice up the drink with fresh ginger or turmeric.

Then comes oil pulling. For this, take about 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in your mouth and move it around the oral cavity for about 5 minutes before spitting it out. This not only reduces Ama but also activates all the senses and brings mental freshness. After oil pulling, clean your tongue's surface with a tongue scraper. Simply work your way slowly from the root to the tip and gently scrape off the coating.

To perfectly harmonize the body and shed ballast, we also recommend a suitable meditation. Simply choose the meditation technique that suits you best! It refreshes both body and mind and enriches you with new energy.

As the saying goes: After eating, rest or walk a thousand steps! Therefore, even if it's tempting: forgo the midday nap in spring and instead take a regular, brisk walk. Some morning yoga is also beneficial and gives you energy for the day ahead. Those who then combine this with the right diet can effectively rid their body of waste.

Ayurveda nutrition for spring

In European Ayurveda®, nutrition is very individual and should always be tailored to the personal constitution type. However, in spring generally light and easily digestible foods should be consumed to calm the high Kapha dosha. Also, make sure to eat only when you are genuinely hungry and opt for a ripe piece of fruit or freshly squeezed fruit juiceinstead of snacks.

Even if it's not easy, push yourself to avoid meat, sweets, coffee, alcohol, and fatty or fried foods during the detox. To especially stimulate Agni, the digestive fire, we recommend adding spicy spices to the food. This activates your metabolism and bids goodbye to Ama.

By enriching your food with spicy spices like ginger or turmeric and ensuring you consume easily digestible foods, you do something good for your body and mind in spring. Spring is the ideal time for an Ayurvedic fasting cure. However, this should appear slightly different depending on the individual constitution type .

Spring cure for Vatas

Vata types rarely have weight problems and should therefore prefer not to fast or only fast very briefly. Instead, Vatas should proceed very gently and ensure they get enough nourishment. However, it's important to balance the restless Vata metabolism with warm and calming meals .

As a Vata, have spelt, semolina, or rice porridge with a piece of fresh fruit for breakfast. At lunch, there might be basmati rice, steamed vegetables with ghee or chutney. For a pleasant end to the day, we recommend a freshly cooked vegetable soup with a slice of whole-grain bread in the evening.

Drink mainly warm or hot water, preferably with some ginger or lemon. Meals can be enriched with spices like cinnamon, ginger, cloves, or cardamom to additionally boost digestion.

The Pitta-type cure

The constant challenge for Pitta types is to find the golden mean between rest and activity. As a Pitta type, you therefore only need to fast briefly. All the more important for you is the proper dietto stay balanced. Ideally, balance the overly acidic metabolism with an alkaline diet.

Pittas should start their day with spelt porridge with sweet fruit spread or a savory spread. Suitable lunch options include rice with braised cucumbers, asparagus, zucchini, fennel or leafy salad. However, only vegetable stew or soup should be eaten in the evening to calm the fiery nature of the Pitta type.

We recommend a lassias a drink, as it is soothing for fiery Pittas. Also, green tea or herbal tea can be beneficial, whether enjoyed warm or cold. With fiery spices, Pittas should be more sparing and instead prefer cooling spices like coriander or dill .

Abends sollte jedoch nicht mehr als ein Gemüseeintopf oder eine Suppe gegessen werden, um die feurige Natur des Pitta-Typen etwas zu beruhigen.

Ayurvedic Kapha fasting cure

Kapha types are not harmed by fasting and can undertake a 4-day fasting cure in spring to detoxify the body. Kaphas can also fast for longer periodsto achieve a lighter body and life feeling. For this dosha type, daily exercise during the spring cure is particularly important.

As a Kapha type, it's best to skip breakfast altogether or limit yourself to fruit with a little crispbread. Your main meal should take place at noon, and it should be prepared as vegetarian as possible. The best is cooked vegetables like kohlrabi, carrots, spinach, leeks, or peppers with a small amount of basmati rice or barley. You can also safely skip dinner, or have a thin vegetable soup instead.

To stimulate metabolism, hot drinks like water with ginger or nettles are especially recommended. When it comes to spices, feel free to use anything that stimulates digestion. Chili, ginger, cumin, or black pepper are ideal.
