2. Ayurveda Vata Breakfast: Grain Porridge with Spices & Fruits
This spicy breakfast porridge is especially suitable for Vata types :
Ingredients:
A handful of oats (like spelt, barley, wheat, etc.)
Fruit (best seasonal & regional)
1 glass warm water
1 glass oat milk (also other plant-based milk is fine)
Spices such as fennel, cardamom & anise or cloves & cinnamon (recommended in winter)
Sweeteners such as honey (optional)
Preparation:
Heat a pot on medium heat. Then add the spices and briefly toss everything. Now add the oats – mix everything well and sauté a bit until the smell fills the entire room.
Then deglaze everything with warm water until the flakes are covered. Let everything continue to simmer on low to medium heat – the water should be completely evaporated and the flakes should already be slightly soft. Next, you can add the glass of oat milk. Then let everything simmer until your ideal breakfast porridge is ready.
In the meantime, you can prepare your fruit. Either sauté the fruit just like that in the pan or fry it with some ghee or butter, oil, or margarine. Arrange everything nicely together, and your delicious and nutritious breakfast is ready!
